Gaining influence is not as easy as it may seem. In other words, gain influence over your allies and you can turn even the most staunch Light Side Jedi into an agent of the Sith. More importantly, a highly influenced character gravitates towards your Force leanings. The higher the influence, the more a character is willing to share with you, opening new avenues for dialogue. Influence measures how much trust, confidence, or control you have over a party member. Though one may admonish a harsh act, your interactions with the characters in your party remained fundamentally the same no matter what. Whether good or bad and (for the most part) no matter what your actions, you'd encounter the same friends and foes. No matter how you acted during the entire game, you could suddenly switch teams at the last moment. There's no denying that the original KOTOR is among the great RPGs of all time, but your character's swing to Dark or Light was a bit by the numbers.

While, on its surface, KOTOR 2 looks and controls like its predecessor, there are some subtle differences that make conversations and actions have far greater meaning to your gaming experience. Upon first viewing of Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, it's easy to think it's the same game ol' game with a new story tacked on to justify a sequel.
